Gerda Flockinger Sterling Gold and Opal Ring, circa 1960

1960s ring by British artist- jeweler Gerda Flockinger CBE. The 5/8″ wide sterling band with piercework , applied wire and granulation ( some small gold bead accents) a small brown diamond adds light to the white opal. Very Light color play in the opal.. and minor crazing throughout. This ring came directly from the master herself. Flockinger , an instrumental figure in Jeweler history, taught a groundbreaking class at Hornsey College, England in experimental jewelry. She was the first contemporary jeweler to have a one woman show at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Her work is represented widely in Museum and personal collections. Difficult to find pieces and easy to cherish. This ring is de-accessed from our own private collection. Signed. Size 6
