Ivory Bangles by Elsa Peretti ,collection of Naomi Sims, c1970
A rare group of three ivory bangle bracelets by Elsa Peretti. The three natural ivory bangles measuring 4″- 5″ across,1/8″ deep, with approximately a 1”- 1 1/4″ “lip”. The, openings measuring 2 3/8″, 2 3/8″, 2 1/8″. These Bracelets made before Peretti joined Tiffany and Co., were most likely part of the Halston collection in the early 70’s. Both Sims and Peretti were working with Halson during this period. Naomi Sims, Americas first African American Super model, blazed the trail for exotic models. Halston ,quoted in a 1974 New times article, ” Naomi was the first. The she was a great Ambassador for all black people. She broke down all the social barriers.” The paper thin bracelets are amazing worn together, but also look great worn as pendants as well. Natural patina adds warmth and character. Tres Chic, not to mention…an important piece of fashion history. Fit a small to very small wrist.
